The most important factor to a beautiful smile is getting the brackets in the right place. Directly placing the brackets while the patient is moving and constantly fighting saliva is difficult. Also, teeth have many different shapes and can be worn or chipped. All of these factors can make placement a challenge. Orthodontists then reposition and place bends in the wires to compensate for these limitations.

Dr. Doug has created a concept to use the digital scan from the intraoral scanner to enhance bracket placement. The scan is then uploaded and software from 3Shape is used to place brackets digitally without the patient in the office! A tray is printed with a 3D printer to make a jig to place the brackets more efficiently and accurately to lessen lengthy repositioning and wire adjustment visits.
