At the office of Dr. Doug Smith, we take cleanliness and infection control to the highest level. Our sterilization process is open and visible so all of our patients and families can witness the complex equipment and processes which occur to make sure you and your family are always safe. Our instruments are initially washed in a medical grade hydration unit.

All of our instruments are bagged with a special sealed pouch with indicators to verify every instrument is sterile. The instruments are then autoclaved and the sealed pouches are placed in drawers or bins and remain sealed until opened during patient care. Our specialized sterilization unit is equipped with hydraulic foot pedals so cabinets may be opened without human contamination. A third party monitoring laboratory ensures all of our processes are correctly functioning.

We use strict cross contamination barrier protection. We adhere to the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists recommendations.
